about

This 10 anniversary album was originally released June 10th 2020 via the Ruairi O'Baoighill Bandcamp page.

Below is a blurb written by Ruairi at the time.

"Originally released digitally on June 10th 2010, this was the first album of experimental recordings I released. Although it wouldn't be until 2012 that I started releasing experimental music under the name Ruairi O'Baoighill, I still consider this to be my first album.

It's never seen a proper physical release, so I thought why not put it out on tape to celebrate its 10 years in existence.

Listening to -87 is always a strange listen for me as I was having mental health issues at the time, and it was the first time that I used music to work through them, which is a technique I have been doing ever since, but its always very weird to be transported back into that original headspace.

Most of the sounds on the album were recorded with a mic on an mp3 player, and then heavily edited in audacity. It is full of now obvious audio blunders, and the sound quality isn't great as I had no real idea what I was doing at the time, recording and mixing wise. But it is an album I am fiercely proud of, and quite frankly, it was a key turning point in my life."
